What is MP3?
Mp3 stand is basically a type of music file. What is so special
about it is that a song from a cd can be encoded(transformed) into an mp3 file, usually 12
times smaller than what it would be in the wave file format. The song is just about as
good as the orginal but it is only about 3-5 megabytes.What is VQF?
VQF is another music file format similar to MP3. In fact it is an
improved version of MP3 developed by Yamaha. The way it is better is that it's encoding is
better and more efficient, meaning VQFs are smaller in size, and better quality than MP3s.
VQFs encoded in 80kbps are the same quality as 128kbps, that is the reason why VQFs are
smaller for the same quality. Sometimes MP3s can sound a bit fuzzy and not clear because
of poor encoding. This rarely happens with VQFs due to its efficient encoding, so you can
always expect crystal clear VQFs.
Which is better then?
The advantage of VQF of VQFs are that it is smaller and better
quality that mp3s, but the disadvantage of vqfs are that it requires more CPU power to
play VQFs, it isn't as popular yet so there won't be that many sites that use it, the are
very few programs that play it and make it. Lastly, there is only so far basic seek
functions in the VQF players, so you can't jump around the song like you do with MP3.
How do i listen to MP3 + VQF?
Mp3: Firstly download a mp3 player such as WinAMP or KJOFOL.
Install the program then download the mp3s you want to listen to from the links at the top
of this page. Then to play the song, either double click it in windows explorer, or open
it through winamp.
VQF: You can either use WinAMP and
download the VQF plugin here and follow the instructions located inside the plugin zip
file to install the input plugin, or you can use KJOFOL which plays VQF.
What is WMA??
WMA is another music file format similar to MP3 and VQF. It was
developed by Microsoft for its Media Player, but many mp3 players support this growing
file format. Like VQF it is new so it is better than mp3 in quality and efficiency. |
